		Killed by greed and capitalism.

You likely know what I mean...click on link to view a two minute news story and have to watch a 30+ second commercial to see it.

First only a few sites were infected by this. Now it's everywhere.

 No thanks.

Internet Video is dead to me.

Yes, it's really annoying - and probably wasteful of my data allowance too.

		| I completely agree. ESPECIALLY now that you have to watch the same commercial over again if you hit replay. |

I fail to see the problem.

Its free, so you have to watch a little ad. I much prefer this model than paying a subscription.

		| I have an ad blocker installed. Hulu puts up an apology notice that they are unable to play my ad. Then I have to stare at a black screen until the ad would have been done. |

At least with TV you have a higher show to ad ratio. With the internet video model, the ad is sometimes as long or almost as long as the clip. And with an ad every clip, it's a much higher ad ratio than TV. (And admittedly, I never watch ads on TV since I rarely watch live TV; thankfully, they don't do that on Netflix (that part of Internet Video lives on.)

I used to have adblock plus on my chrome install, but took it out to streamline chrome (using as few add ons as possible, since Chrome has been misbehaving lately).

Not really. The ad percentage for commercial television runs about 31% these days (that's up from about 18% in 1977). So for a two-minute clip, at 30% ad ratio, you'd have to endure about 36 seconds of ad time. So the ratios are much the same. |
