Not sure if it is re-post!
It's a boy! Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and husband Prince William on Monday welcomed their first child!

We should have a challenge to celebrate the Moonchild - scaled of skin and blooded by foxes and the poor. The black ritual, first started by the Olympic planning group of London 2012 and followed through by our lizard overlords, has come to ugly fruition. I think it should be Expert editing. Or even Advanced with an extra ruleset to allow a texture. |

I agree. I honestly couldn't give a flying f**k about it.
E.T.A - Unless it is a challenge suggestion. That would be cool. I'd like to depict my own version. ;)

[An extraterrestrial robot and spaceship has just landed on earth. The robot steps out of the spaceship...]
"I come in peace," it said, adding after a long moment of further grinding, "take me to your Lizard."
Ford Prefect, of course, had an explanation for this, as he sat with Arthur and watched the nonstop frenetic news reports on television, none of which had anything to say other than to record that the thing had done this amount of damage which was valued at that amount of billions of pounds and had killed this totally other number of people, and then say it again, because the robot was doing nothing more than standing there, swaying very slightly, and emitting short incomprehensible error messages.
"It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see..."
"You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?"
"No," said Ford, who by this time was a little more rational and coherent than he had been, having finally had the coffee forced down him, "nothing so simple. Nothing anything like to straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said ford. "It is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?"
"What?"
"I said," said Ford, with an increasing air of urgency creeping into his voice, "have you got any gin?"
"I'll look. Tell me about the lizards."
Ford shrugged again.
"Some people say that the lizards are the best thing that ever happened to them," he said. "They're completely wrong of course, completely and utterly wrong, but someone's got to say it."

I've just this evening finished reading Iain Bank's last book, 'The Quarry'. Iain Banks is one of my favourite writers from since i was a teenager. He died a month or so ago-just a week before his last book was published. As was often the case with his books it was both angry and compassionate.
A favourite bit from the very last few pages stuck in my mind as i got back from the pub....
'I shall,' Guy says, from the screen, 'consider myself well rid of this island's pathetic, grovelling population of celebrity-obsessed, superficiality-fixated wankers. I shall not miss the institutionalised servility that is the worship of the royals- that bunch of useless, vapid, anti-intellectual pillocks-or the cringing respect accorded to the shitting out of value-bereft Ruritanian 'honours' by the government of the fucking day, or the hounding of the poor and disabled and the cosseting of the rich and privileged...'
Word.

Aw dang you beat me to it, here I am thinkin I am the first to come up with 'Ok, yet another *royal* sperm bank and the freakin world goes crazy.' Why?! The monarchy is a bloated, obsolete, obscenely wealthy figurehead from the bad ol' days when being titled actually meant something. And this coming from someone living in a Commonwealth country...yeah I know, blasphemous etc etc, burn me at the stake if you like.
But now the radio doesn't stop playing that freakin 'Royal' song by 16-yr-old NZer Lord, which apart from the annoyingly shrill girly backup singers, I was kinda sorta liking...til now. |

People from the Republic of Wales probably care about it even less than us in the Republic of Ireland. |

FWIW the Guardian has two buttons (I think "Royalist" and "Republican") on their website, so you can choose to have a baby-free "front page." |

Perhaps we could use a few similar buttons here. |

High treason. The penalty for which is hanging, drawing, and quartering. May god have mercy on your soul. |

Actually, I'm hoping they follow a 'rich' tradition, and choose Jeb for their next child. |

Hugo the Abominable Snowman: Just what I always wanted. My own little bunny rabbit. I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him...
Daffy Duck: I'm not a bunny rabbit...
Hugo the Abominable Snowman: ...and pat him and pet him and...
Daffy Duck: You're hurting me. Put me down, please.
Hugo the Abominable Snowman: ...and rub him and caress him and...
Daffy Duck: [shouts] I ain't no bunny rabbit! |
