I thought so too, until I realized that they're all composites. |

A girl and her cat — Surreal images of a sweet friendship [19 images]
JULY 9, 2013 | 5 COMMENTS
Over the last few years, photographer Andy Prokh has documented the playfulness of his daughter and the patience of her cat in an ongoing series of silly, sweet, and usually somewhat absurd portraits of the two togetherâ€Â¦ |
Now, if it had said something that indicated that these were created images, that would be fine.
As it is? That's a deceptive presentation, and it's not the first time either.
The images are cute - I agree, but I strongly disapprove of how this particular set of images is always presented as being documentary photographs, which they are not.
Now, Misa and Fukumaru? That's a great set of images IMO. |

+1 I just feel so... cheated. So let down. So deceived. Completely distraught. How can we, as a society, tolerate this type of thing?? I'm with you, Cory, I just want to punch that little girl and the cat right in the face. And shame shame shame on Johanna for even posting the link without some sort of disclosure. Let's punch her in the face, too.

It doesn't worry me that they're composites. I just wish I could produce composites that good. Or photos good enough to make those composites, for that matter.

actually quite simple, technically. set up the scene and use a tripod, the composite is the easy part. waiting for the stupid cat and the kid to cooperate is where i give her major kudos. No way i have the patience for that. |

I've always preferred torches.
Really though, I guess I'm the only one who thinks the presentation is deceptive, so I suppose it's a fantastic set of images. |

Very rare is a photograph that is not deceptive to one degree or another (with or without post-processing), IMO. I just enjoy them for what they are. No photographer owes me the "truth".
Sorry for being a little over-the-top in my sarcasm earlier. ;-) |

*shrug* Perhaps, but I just don't see digital manipulation as being the same as photography. They're both legitimate arts, but I prefer them to be distinguishable.
And don't worry about the sarcasm, I've got a thick hide, and I know you far too well to be terribly worried about anything of that nature from you. :D |

For what it's worth, I think the execution on this one is the best of the lot.
