Can anyone guess what this is for?

Not a clue what they'd be for, but DAMN those are big.
ETA: I actually was close in my off-the cuff guess, but I figured there was no way, given the extremely heavy duty nature of the rings.
Of course, that one little detail makes all the difference, and explains quite nicely why they are ginormous.
