There's always Cape Cod... assuming the timing works out, but we may be traveling for some of October ourselves... |

Check the driving times. America is a big country. |

It's kinda cheesy and touristy, but I enjoyed the Duck Boat tour when I was in Boston.

IF you're going to Boston, might as well check out the Sam Adams brewery? |

You might try Letchworth State Park (South of Rochester) or Watkins Glen State Park (south end of Seneca Lake) - both great photo ops. |

Boston - Forget about the duck & red line tours :-) The harbour near the aquarium near dusk is nice for pics, some great shots down near mass av bridge on Cambridge side and down near the shell on the Boston side. The christian science centre is not a bad area with some cool water (and just near where you catch the duck tour at the pru if you do go that path). Harvard & MIT have some cool stuff in the various buildings. Science museum has decent views of the backbay from the top floor of the car park, if your there especially ;-) Quick bus trip to NYC? :-)
In that area your around... Lake George is somewhat cool with the old fort (and I recall a paddle steamer maybe) - sorry forget the forts name but google would find it. Your probably going to miss a lot of the autumn but you might still find pieces of that around and that would be great in that upstate area. Checkout route 9 from the corner of NY into MA - might be a tad late though, so checkout the interwebs for timing but that is a GREAT drive (better ride) in autumn (I should say fall I guess :-) ).... think windy mountain roads thru the coloured trees :-) |
