Spotted this guy digging a hole between stones of my walkway. It was fascinating to watch as he burrowed into the ground and pulled out bits of material piece by piece. Anyone have an idea on what this critter is?

Some sort of wasp.

Looks rather like a cockroach wasp. Although, I don't think they come in yellow. :)

Looks like either a digger bee or a sand wasp.

I was initially searching for ground bee and came up empty. The search for ground wasp leads me to believe it is a Great Golden Digger Wasps. Good news, they appear to be solitary and non-aggressive so I should not have to evacuate them.
