Does anyone know of any companies that are making strip boxes for speedlights? I think Westcott has some, but I bought two of their 60" umbrellas after my old one blew over in the wind and they are making crap product now with plastic ribs in the umbrella.... I don't want to pay $200 for plastic..... |

You might consider the Saber Strip. I first heard about them here. Here's another review
The only bummer is you can't grid them.
ETA: I do not own one yet so can't say what my own impressions are. Have thought about getting one though.

Cool find mr. Spatula. i like that idea.
I tried using my old bracket tube and some white paper to similar effect - this looks better made. |

Yeah- it sounds like the diffusion is pretty even, as well, which I think would be rather hard to do on your own. I've thought about making one and trying it out but I think that would be an issue. Look at this guy's homemade- examples. Super hot at the top. |

You could use one or more of these . They have grids available. |

I have to say I really like the Saber Strip idea. The reviews are positive, the cost is reasonable and they are very compact. I am going to file them for future reference; at some point I want to start playing with "strobist" type lighting.
