Not sure if this has been posted before, but I enjoyed reading it. Pretty neat if it helps keeping his camera
equipment cool as well.
Not a bad DIY paint job. :) |

Surprised to see that he painted the inside of the lens hood as well.
I would have thought that would increase reflection / lens flare etc, even if just on a small scale. |

really, isn't that why they put that black velvet material in there?
then again it is a Nikon so it may as well look pretty

Too right.
Hell of a painter, that masking job is amazing.
Not sure what sort of photographer would miss that detail though. |

I wondered about the interior of the lenshood too. I'd've left it black. |

"Desert Mirage Lizard" is just the color. The paint itself is an epoxy paint called "Dura Coat" typically used as a rustproof finish for firearms. You can get it from Lauer Custom Weaponry the manufacturer. |

LOL yeah anything's better than those yucky grey L-series lenses...ew! And I've seen Canon Rebels in ghastly metallic pink. So gross, looked like 20-yr old Hubba Bubba chewing gum stuck on the underside of a desk.
And I look awful in that cold-toned Canon red, vivid Nikon yellow suits me much better ;-) |

Nothing like a brightly colored camera to shout, HEY EVERYONE I OWN A CAMERA...
Particularly handy for unobtrusive street shooting.
Eta - Darn you Auto-Correct.
