i think its up to event organizers to handle security how they wish, just don't disguise what isn't a security issue as one. i'd have much more respect if they just came out and said they only want the professionals they allow to be able to take photos here. |

I think you mean allow to take "professional-quality photos" -- they are not banning all cameras ... |

at 35mm i dont think they will get any high quality "horse racing" shots unless they are on the track.
just because its full frame doesnt mean its professional.

Not unlike the problem of trying ban certain weapons based on a description of their contruction rather than their function, eh? :-) |

Yep down the same line.... I am not for the banning..Like I said before they could have installed x-ray machines..and not ban anything...
Unless as Mike suggested they were just trying to keep decent pics of the races to a min.

Garry, you've become quite unmanageable since your 5th place finish, and new PB, in the Emotion challenge. I may have to call a special meeting of The Board to discuss disciplinary measures.

i'd like to know who these fans are that have concerns.
Collectively, we feel these changes will address concerns fans may have following the Boston tragedies," Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas said in a statement. "We ask that everyone please read carefully our security procedures and policies, so that guests may enjoy Black-Eyed Susan and Preakness days in a safe and secure manner with a minimum of inconvenience."
i'd bet that if you polled the event goers the 95% or more would not be in favor of such strict rules, that goes for any event not just this one.

Yeah! They're providing 4 outlets for every 25 square feet of infield. It's a PARTY! |

Good, because I'll also need to plug in my massaging chair.
