These remind me of a photo my grandfather took many years ago. Yosemite and presumably other parks used to throw a campfire or bonfire (I forget which, but probably the latter) into the falls at sunset and create streaming fire effects. |

I thought the same just from reading the description.
The Firefall was unique to Yosemite -- a big bonfire pushed over the edge of Glacier Point. I was lucky enough to see it live when I was a kid ... it was stopped quite a few years ago (1969) for ecological and economic reasons (horrible traffic jams in the Valley for one thing). The program California's Gold did a show on the Firefall back in 1996. I think you can still buy postcards with a nice picture of it ... |
