Music artists collaborate on a regular basis and with great success . Numerous songs have flooded the charts recently with top selling artists working together to create a memorable piece. Each artist brings a unique element to the creation.
A free study
Must unite with another DPC photog
Brainstorm together on concept or scene
Each individual shoot the scene but with a different element ie...perspective, or lighting or exposure or an added feature or a feature removed...etc
Each photog then submits their own entry.
This will encourage many aspects of the whole process behind an image. Another perspective, mentoring, elements that one may have never would think of...etc
It would be interesting to see the similarities of the pics and the thought process behind it and the difference in voting between the two scenes.

I imagine this would have to be Expert if elements are being added to or subtracted from the image by the collaborators?
Unless you're assuming both parties will be in the same physical space together and working with the same environment at the same time?

You collaborate on recommendations of your own pic and submit completely different pics. Yes
Do you physically meet up and compose the idea and collaborate on the whole look of the pic in TPL..No
the idea of this is that sometimes a small detail can make or break a pic. Partners can enter very similar pics and let voters decide which is the better option , if you will.
May need fine tuning

That's the idea ...have the two photogs in the same space at the same time
Elements are added or removed physically and not electronically thru PS

I love the idea of collaboration! I'm thinking this might actually be a much better SC, as I think there may be technical issues with posting, voting, etc. Would it be important to know there's a team, or we'd just figure it out from seeing the two similar images? In a SC, everyone would know the teams and they would submit together, at the same time. |

There used to be a "mentor" SC at one time but it faded quickly. Not really same thing but a certain amount would happen thru the project im sure.
No technical issues with submitting or voting. Anonimity is still kept thru voting only the two partners know which entry is theirs and of course people dont vote on pics that they already know who the photog is anyway...riiiight?
Shot with your own camera therefore originals are in tact..and rememeber there is a slight variation form one shot to the next so they are not identical. |

this just came to me..
sometimes we see similar images entered from peeps going to a GTG or a workshop or a Zoo..and voters sometimes crucify the pics for being similar!
this however is more contrived and purposefully executed between the two photogs.
Voters must now notice the differences and vote accordingly..what worked and what didnt work.. etc
just thinking out loud |

Another good reason!
Take the initiative to meet someone....plan to meet halfway...or if you cant travel find a friend that is close to you that has an interest in photography..sign them up to DPC and get them going....etc etc...don't come up with obstacles..come up with ideas to overcome them.
Many of the ribbon winners and photographers who produce memorable images more often than not put forth an amount of effort. ( read this guys Gyaban descriptions on his fotos)
This s to get people out of their comfort zone and open your eyes to new ideas and experiences. Discover another photographer and their thought process or technique.
It's fantastic to learn and discover electronically ...the web provides an unlimited resource....to discover thru human interaction ...more exhilarating .....but that's just me.
