Hey,
Was wondering what people use for stitching together panorama photos. I have the auto stitch that comes with the camera, but for it to be able to work the photos have to be taken in panorama mode and it has to be on an Olympus memory card or else you can't put it in panorama mode. I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements but they come out really bad with that(guess I could be doing something wrong). I like to take panoramic shots but its really irritating when you can see where the photos have been stitched together.
Thanks,
Dave |

That was one of the first things I hated about my Oly D-550Z. The Olympus smart media was almost twice as much money as anyone elses too! They know what they're doing I guess. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? Or a way to make the camera think it's Olympus media when it ain't? |

If you want the ultimate in capability and don't mind a learning curve, use PanoTools. It's free, but you will want a GUI front end, 'cause without it it is a PITA. Something like PTGUI will cost you $40, and is a great investment. I do all my panos with PTGUI/PanoTools.
You might also do a forum search, it has been discussed at great length before.

I use Canon PhotoStitch. I'm not sure of the price cause it came with my camera. It works pretty well though. You can see an example here: //my-expressions.com/expressions/page.cgi?id=193_1222785705&type=entry&tid=8793 - this was stitched together from 11 photos. |

In my own trials, nothing beats the Panorama Factory. It's shareware for you to try, and there's even a freeware version (much older, but still excellent). //www.panoramafactory.com |

Thanks a lot guys. I will check out all of these see which one I like. I like panoramic photos and I need to perfect it before my vacation. Taking 3 weeks and traveling out in the western US. I love it out there(need to find a job out there :) ) and there are some really great places to make great panoramic photos.

There's also PTOpenGUI, a free substitute for PTGui. It works pretty well for me. |
