Is it legal, in advanced rule set, to create a vignette or gradient in the border? Or one which overlaps image and border?

one would have thought borders were fair game before the best of 2012 DQ debacle.

"In" the border, sure, so long as the border remains distinctly separate from the image. I'd be real worried about applying a gradient that overlaps both border and image, because some might construe that as "making the border part of the image", which would be adding an extra element and DQable, I think.

Thanks. What I had in mind would have retained a distinct border.
