OH. MY. GOSH.

So, just to start off, if anyone is in Austin, TX from now until May 12, I would HIGHLY suggest you go to the Arnold Newman Masterclass exhibit in the Harry Ransom center at the University of Texas.
It is COMPLETELY amazing. I went on a guided tour by a man that personally knew Newman and wrote an awesome book about him and I think I almost died. The exhibit has so many amazing prints and contact sheets and personal items. You really should go. This is the first posthumous exhibit of his work (it is a traveling exhibit) and it has already been to Germany and Belgium. This is the first stop in the United States, and the next stop is in San Diego.

Some of the featured portraits include those of Picasso, Stravinsky, Grandma Moses, Watson and Crick, Otto Frank, O'Keeffe, Oppenheimer, Aaron Copland, Ansel Adams, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Dior, Jason Pollock, Marilyn Monroe, and so many more!

And if you are not familiar with Newman, look him up NOW.

Would that exhibition be coming to Japan, perchance?

As a photography student I had the pleasure of meeting Arnold Newman when he had an exhibition of his work at my school. One of my teachers who was an old-school Time Life photographer was good friends with Mr. Newman. It was an amazing experience.

I'm not sure where else it will be traveling, but that is awesome that you got to meet him!
