I think the treatment definitely helps. What's lacking are some nice highlights coming through the trees that would glow nicely when the screen blend was applied. I think from my searches that this method really compliments/requires highlights to shine. At least, that's how it looks to me. |

Good observation, Garry. I'll take a look in Lightroom to see if there are highlights to be used/created. That's worth playing around with. |

Color Efex Pro, just a quick stab. It COULD be done lighter and more ethereal, of course, I just thought this was interesting, for how the glow works. |

What filter combination did you use, Robt? |

Nik Viveza for a structure boost and the Midnight filter, adjusted, in Color Efex. |

... show off :-). ... Seriously nice. I particularly like the green park one. Pitty about the black triangle (car or whatever) in the right corner, else this would be such a stunning picture. |

Just looking at the various forest edits, I personally prefer the lighter version, although I think the "glow" part is stronger/better in the dark pic. I don't know if you would loose it if you brightened the whole picture?
However, for me neither is yet "soft" enough. I have a strong suspicion that one would have to work on several layers to get that "misty" feel that is so nice in your "Mist images" below and that the artist on 500px gets.
I also think that "sloppy masking" is not really a big issue in this type of image.
... are you guys not playing league? are you on holiday? or do you just have plenty of time on your hands? :-) |
