I decided my photography business as it is gaining a little traction needed a logo. So I employed the talents of DPC's Oliver Hoffman h2 who many may not know is a top notch graphic designer as well as photographer.
Oliver started me off with a questionnaire to get an idea of what I was looking for in a logo. A couple days later he had three proposed designs for me which I put up for feedback on Facebook. And below is the final design in a few forms. This will be used as an image watermark as well as for web and print. I know the hammer instead of a camera on the tripod is kind of weird, but then it makes a play on my all too common surname which I might as well mess with since I hate it :P
I'm really happy with what Oliver created and hope others like it too because it's going to be my brand for a while :)

Love it. The hammer is clever and memorable. Strong, classy colors. Very clean. |

my brother owns a marketing company, and this looks like something he would do, he's big on clean, uncluttered designs |

I like the design, but have some concern about legibility because it's all so dark. For example, when photocopied or faxed it's possible that red may merge completely with the black, and there may not be enouch contrast for the rest to show up either.
What you have would be fine for business cards or postcards or something printed in high-resolution color, but as a logo I think you'd be better off with the same design elements on a white background with a black outline. |

Thanks guys, I like the clean design too.
@ Paul. Oliver provided files with a transparent background so I can make it what ever color/shade I need for a given situation :) |

Good concept and very clean. What colors are you going to use on white paper? |

Thanks Brennan: :) Will likely use the same colors on white. Haven't tried it yet but might have to tweak the gray just a little... |

Clean and sleek but just fyi, I didn't know it was a hammer until I read that it was. A hammer has more of a waist between head and tail. Looked like a directional sign pointing somewhere... on top of a bipod. But I really don't claim to see things normally so you're probably fine with the rest of the world ;-) |

That's a wood working hammer, the one he used is a metal working hammer, as used by smiths. A small bit of visual humor, but I suppose you have to know your metal working tools to think it is amusing. |

Why didn't you just go with a nice clean logo that uses your initials?
Something with a big BS instead of a tripo....... ... .. . . ...
Oh.
Yep, nice logo. ;)

Exactly, Brennan has it right- a smiths hammer. Oliver even started off with a blue hammer and surname (cold steel blue) but I was hoping for red so we now have a "hot hammer" ;) |

I was considering whether a partial rotation and image flip would yield a stylized hammer-and-sickle arrangement ... ;-) |

Funny I had the same thought, but thought it might just be because I love Russian Dashcam videos. ;) |
