Seems they rolled this update out without enough testing. I too will miss the forums there. At least they are responsive to emails and did fix a particular glitch in one day. So far, I'm not the biggest fan. We'll see what happens in a few weeks.

You can upload anything you want to now without screening so people can see them right away. Once you upload them, you can elect to put them up for screening so they can (if picked by the curators) go into the "explore" category of all curated images. However, if someone visits your page as things are now they will have no idea which of your images got published by the curators and which you just uploaded yourself. A lot of people are mad about this as they feel it dilutes the sense of accomplishment they once had with their published images- some worked very hard improving them after submitting for critique, etc. |

for the screening part yes, but the competitions are not screened and are new but you also cannot delete those.
Now the ones that are rejected from screening show in your portfolio whereas earlier they were just shown when you were in your account. Also, they deleted all the old "rejected" items, so there's nothing to stop you sending things for screening that were rejected earlier (as far as I can tell). |

If 1X has 1200 x 800 photos - DPC could. |

Ah! Just went over there and saw all my "rejects" were gone. |

I'm glad I'd already migrated mine to Pixu.
If they leave it like this it will haemorrhage users. |

Actually they can now be as large as 2500 pixels if you enable HD in your preferences. That's a lot to think about regarding image security, and if you don't go HD your images will look softer than those images on the site that are. |

Well well, they just added tabs that will show either published images only or all images. That's a start in fixing some of the many things that don't sit well with people... |

But, as this illustrates, sometimes change isn't really a good thing. Not that all change is bad, it just needs to be really well thought out. |

What if I accidentally click on the "all photos" tab and become blind by what I saw? Should have made the tabs look different. Would have been better had the "published photos" tab had some kind of glow around it. Maybe even a white picket fence graphic that when clicked you would hear the Vienna Boys' Choir sing for a few seconds just before entering the gates of photo heaven.

I've only been a casual observer over there ΓΆ€” submitted something a couple years ago for rejection ΓΆ€” but I cannot understand why they messed with what seemed to be a flawlessly running show.
I've got to say, just poking around over there now the quality is down. I find the tutorial section especially odd, as most are not even tutorials but just randomly posted photos with brief descriptions. Perhaps it's also because all you saw before were the photos that were accepted, meaning every time you tuned in you were seeing the best of the best, but now you can look through all the photos entered in the competition, and there's no vetting process in place.
On the other hand... because of that I think I'm going to enter the competition. If there goal with this remodel was to lure in crappy photographers, it's worked! |

I dunno, just browsed through some of the latest submissions for the "Forest" challenge, and there is a large handful of impeccable images! |

good point, but i'd argue that most of what we are asking isn't earth shattering. |

This sounds great. My membership is just about to expire. I need some different challenges and new motivation without the disappointment of constant rejections. The quality of competition is amazing, I can learn just by looking at these great images and be motivated to enter something better than my current photos. |

Well I just submitted to their competition. To be honest I'm mostly interested in this because it gave me a chance to mine an old, under-appreciated image from two years back and I liked it enough to submit it to screening as well. We'll see. |
