This is not so much a suggestion but a question.
Would we be permitted to have one person take the shot, and another person process the shot?
I ask this because I'm OK in taking the shot but hopeless in processing the image.
To help my learning, I was thinking along the lines of me taking the photograph then passing it on to another willing DPC member to process.
What are your thoughts? |

Why don't you make the most of this site and practice your skills as well as learn new skills so you can be fully responsible for your own art and the direction it takes. We all had to start in the same place and this is as good a site as any to start learning your craft. There are plenty of tutorials on this and other sites and there are so many people on here that would be more than willing to help you out, answer your questions, guide you with any particular image....etc. :) |

If you are talking about doing this for challenge entries, then no, you may not do that

Your submission must be:
taken and post-processed by you. Someone else may press the shutter button if you set up the shot and the camera settings. No one else may post-process your entry for you. Exceptions must be approved by the Site Council in advance. |

Feel free to toss up images the you have edited and the originals and ask other how they would edit them. You can't enter the results as your work in a challenge, but you can learn quite a bit from the results of the discussion. |

Johnbrennan you could create your own side challange where multiple people process your image and explain the steps they took so you can see what does what, I'd be very interested in this kind of thing. You would have to hand over copy write on your image to any contributor though else it gets a bit fiddly.

We have had quite a few side challenges where people offer up their own images to be edited by others. It's a bit of fun as well as a good learning tool. |

Great suggestions.
Before I had read any comments I was busy working through a tutorial "Bringing Out The Best Of Your Image" by judi
Then I opened up this thread to see if I had received any suggestions.
Strange as it may seem, but judi was the first person to reply. Coincidence!!!
Judi the tutorial was great, but ever so out of my depth. I guess I have to start somewhere.
I loved the idea of creating 9 exposures from the one image in Digital Photo Professional, then creating one image using Photo Matrix.
Do you still use those programs or have you changed or updated.
Last night I watched a number of your "Trash the Dress" videos and loved the shot of the bride on the beach, kneeling facing camera with flowers in the foreground.
Judi, thanks for your suggestion and thanks for creating such wonderful tutorials.
BrennanOB and StefanJSimons thank you for the offer. I will be in touch.
salmiakki thank you for advising me on the challenges.
Once again, thank you all for your assistance. |

Hi John. That is a coincidence to be watching one of my tuts at the same time as I was replying in your thread. I do still use the 9 image HDR method. However, depending on the type of DPC challenge or if I am short on time for my client, I also use the one image RAW method.
I suggest looking at basic tuts and building from there. Dont try or expect to try and learn everything about PS. No one does. Just learn how to finish your image and IF down the track, you want to learn how to incorporate other images into your art, then you will have the bascs to get you started already.
I hope that helps.
