same here. we are getting slammed here in the land of steady habits- Dpc counts as "essential travel"
(and perhaps there is a dairy shot in there somewhere.)

It's been snowing in Ottawa since late last night but it's nothing major. We have had about 10' to 12 inches. Take away the wind and it's a beautiful day! For those of you that are experiencing worse conditions stay safe and enjoy it! It really is beautiful!

HE doesn't call himself that, the COMMONWEALTH calls him that. Goes all the way back to colonial days :-)

Out and about in the snow today. I really can't imaging life without it!

Don't mind the snow but want the temp to start heading for that magickal formula (above freezing during the day, below freezing at night) so I can start tapping! And I don't mean my foot!!

Well sitting here watching the continued snowfall. We have not had a storm like this in a long time. We sit in the 24+ range. Have shoveled the stairs on the front porch hourly. Have plenty of supplies, and gas for the generator(just in case). Dogs are having a blast in the back yard, but due to cold not letting them stay out for too long at a time. Love the snow and can't wait to go out tomorrow to get pics..(If its safe). It will be beautiful. Stay safe Bear_Music as you are closer to the water than I am( 1 mile in from coast).

Oh yeah...tell that to schmucks like me who spent 2 hours and 15 minutes stuck on Hwy 416. Winter........but as Beetle keeps reminding me... it is soooooooooooooo romantic.

I will try right hard to remember that when I am shoveling later on. :O)

Oh yuck! I'm glad I was off today and didn't have to travel that route! Winter is romantic as Arizona summers are not hot because it's a dry heat! (But they do have their moments!)

Windy as hell here, 65 mph or so. Power going off for very brief spans and coming back, 3x in last hour or two. More sleety than snowy so far, but they say that will change.

Thinking about you, good friend. You and Penny, be careful!

I miss the snow - here it's been raining for months - great for the mushrooms but it's just not as beautiful. I can remember getting hauled up over a 7 foot bank of snow by a police officer as I worked in an essential services job - now I didn't like being in the back of a locked cop car going sideways over the hill but it's a wonderful memory and I got to work safe and did 20 hours before I got someone to relieve me.

I know it's dangerous but more people seem to die here in CA when they get the first heavy rains as they just don't know how to drive in it .. summer radials and hydroplaning seem to take a lot of lives - when I lived in Canada I had 4 studded snow tires - oh I wish I was there with my cameras now - didn't have one back then. Just a disposable for snap shots of the kids.

Keep safe everyone and hire ppl to shovel your driveways unless you're a youngin' - heart attacks increase after a snow storm too.

Still snowing furiously here. The 12"+ ruler standing on my patio table is no longer visible.

I was just thinking about you and Penny and decided to check here to see if you were heard from yet.
Stay safe and warm my dear friend. And also to everyone else in the path of this storm.

This old lad just came in the house having spent the last hour and change following his snow blower and I am still not done. On the good side, I can now back the cars out of the driveway and go into town... assuming of course that they decide to plow the roads.

One thing though, the trees sure are pretty.

Me thinks I will try to go our and capture some more winter scenes like those I took for Beetle on Christmas day which I posted Here

Hope everyone is safe and warm. Do take your time clearing the snow away... we seem to lose many a valiant soul each winter.

*sigh* I know you hate it, Ray, but I hate sweating in the heat and humidity just as much.

I would still happily swap with you and shovel your drive way. Deal?

Well, we went to bed with power out, and woke with power IN, so that's good. We.re pretty well drifted in, doors and windows caked, WET snow, but really not all that much of it, less than a foot for sure, just blown up against the house and cars by this crazy wind, which is still howling. A section of our fence is gone, I can see that much...

Sounds like good news . stay warm!

We have wind and sun and its cold!! Probably almost a foot of very icy type snow. I hear train whistles in the distance.. that sort of confirms my thinking that this wasn't as bad here as they thought it would be here. I'm about 15 miles west of NYC.

Wow. We seem to be very lucky... Apparently we share our particular power line with a high-priority area down the road... Over half of my town is without power. Here's the whole Cape Cod map, click on "View full size" to read the details...
