They're calling it Nemo but a blizzard by any other name is still a blizzard.

Stay safe my DPC friends who are in its path.

Oh, yes. And take plenty of pictures.

We're in the 3-6 inch range. We haven't had anything more than a dusting this year and I was hoping to keep it that way. LOL! If it stays just a little north it may just be rain here. Fingers crossed! Those of you up north, stay safe!

LOL! When hurricane Sandy hit, I didn't buy bread. Guess what? I ran out of bread and there wasn't a loaf to be bought for days! I actually had to make homemade bread (in the dark no less).

So get the bread, and might as well stock up on TP and milk while you're at it. ;D

I call bullshit, not a flake here yet.

The wife just got home from work in Georgetown and it was snowing "a lot" there so she says, and there's snow on her car, but I think she's faking that too.

I've already "made arrangements" that I'd be missing work tomorrow, but the evidence just isn't looking so good from my E-Z-Boy at the moment.

C'mon weather! I wanna build a snow fort!

Hmmm ok...

TP...check. Milk...check. Bread...check. Liquid bread...check, and check again for overfermented grape juice :-) I will be fine.

Now off to bed with my fave reading material, The Coming Storm: Extreme Weather and Our Terrifying Future by Bob Reiss.

Bring it, Nemo!!

Now a days they name every damn cloud.
Just silly.
Snow in the winter oh my. :P

Looking forward to it, I am. Nothing like a good, hefty snowfall to create photo ops. Assuming we keep our power, that is... We're gonna get the brunt of the winds here on our little sandbar out in the Atlantic.

Much ado about nothing. It's a typical Nor'easter. Usually results in a blizzard when they come in the winter. It's not like they are particularly rare.

They are predicting about 24" in Boston.

I think that because the anniversary of the Blizzard of '78 was a couple days ago, people are thinking that it's the second coming or something like that.

Nothing "typical" about this if it lives up to expectations. They've been keeping snowfall records in Boston since 1892:

1. February 17-18, 2003
27.5 inches

2. February 6-7, 1978
27.1 inches

3. February 24-27, 1969
26.3 inches

4. March 31-April 1, 1997
25.4 inches

5. January 22-23, 2005
22.5 inches

6. January 20-21, 1978
21.4 inches

7. March 3-5, 1960
19.8 inches

8. February 16-17, 1958
19.4 inches

9. February 8-10, 1994
18.7 inches

10. December 20-22, 1975
10. January 7-8, 1996
10. December 26-27, 2010
18.2 inches

Only FOUR storms in that time have deposited in excess of 24 inches on the city. 2 feet of snowfall = 5-6 feet drifting. This will be paralysis time if it happens. We'll see...

I love it....on the way home today, passed by a gas station. Yes, some were filling up portable cans, most were filling up their cars.

So.....where do they think they are driving to??

Looked at the rate...1" per hour here in CT. Didn't buy a snow blower, going out every 2 hours or so....makes up for the Girl Scout Cookies I just bought. :)

Here comes the snow... Heavy and wet. Governors declared a state of emergency and banned all non-essential travel on roads until further notice. They make the usual exceptions (emergency workers, utility crews, etc etc) and then include an exemption "if it is safe" for going to get food and fuel. Does going out to take storm pictures shoehorn in there anywhere?

Free Study springs to mind, Robeart....sit tight! Up here we have had fine steady snow since last night, about 10in deep at 1pm when I got home from work by way of town, where I loaded up on supplies. Lots of drifting snow. Now parked in at home and expecting to not go anywhere til Saturday pm.

@ littlemav...careful what you wish for kiddo...just because it's pretty and scenic doesn't make life easier for us in the snowzone!!

Some would argue that going out in a blizzard to take photos is "absurd" ... :)
