I have an old film SLR, it's probably from the early 80's. It's a Chinon CM-4 camera. I have two lenses for it, which are in great condition, and the camera takes really good, clear pictures. I love it, but of course I SO BADLY want a digital SLR it's not even funny.
So is there any possible hope that these old lenses might fit any current cameras? Is there a way to find out, other than taking the lenses to the store and asking a clerk? heh
(sorry I don't have any specific lens info with me, but can post it later) |

I think it´s quite impossible that your lenses will fit into any DSLR. I know that Canon have changed the mount over the years and probably others have too. Also we are talking about electronics with autofocus and settings of apperture and other things through the camera.
Think the only possibility to be sure is to check it on cameras or maybe you can send an e-mail to technical departments of manufactures or some stores. |

Hmm ok. How about... if i buy a FILM Canon Rebel for like $200 bucks, then, can I use that same lens for a digital Rebel?
haha i'm so badly trying to save money and basically shorten the time it takes me to save up for the DSLR.
I really wouldn't mind having a brand new film SLR too, it's still fun to shoot film sometimes! |

if you buy a canon 35mm slr and EF mount lenses for it - they will all fit on the digital slrs from canon.
nikon dslr's accept more of their older lenses than canon does. even some of the manual only nikon lenses i believe work on their dslr's - still its unlikely your current old lenses will fit an dslr. and if they are adaptable i would be skeptical you would be happy with the results.

Any Canon EF lens will work on the Digital Rebel, however It's unlikely that you could get a decent Canon lens cheaper than the $100 kit lens available with the camera. Buying a film camera for $200 would be twice as expensive. Maybe you could sell your Chinon lenses for a little extra cash?

- what scalvert says.
Also, you might want to look on Ebay for cheaper deals. Be wary with what you're buying though. |
