Entry I was actually surprised this didn't do too well. The mirrored votes and the perfect 5.5 were not what I was expecting at all. Would either of these have done better?

My opinion, no.
Now if you had the cuttlefish doing its thing, as oppose to blending in, this would have been a ridiculous entry. Assuming this was taking at the aquarium, so swimming close to them wasn't an option (they tend to do laser light shows when you get close).

When I was diving in St. Lucia last year, we swam through a school of cuttlefish. One of the craziest displays of colour I've seen.

No. The turtle is boring. The fishies might have done better, had you toned down their surrounding. The colored subject should pop from a mute background.

Thanks guys. I didn't read the challenge in the same way I guess. I noticed at least a few that did well with very vibrant backgrounds.

That's because half of the voters don't bother to read the description anyway

Kelli, your entry was very well done. It had great technicals and the color was beautiful and wonderful! I especially appreciated how sharp it was since you were shooting through glass. The challenge was to use color as more of a compositional technique putting the focal point on your subject. That wasn't very clear in the description.

I got a reasonable amount of feedback to the effect I gambled wrong with red on red and this one may have done better, I tookit first but it feels a bit clliche, the tree is known as the
New Zealand christmas Tree so you can probly work out why
