Could have been better. Plot and storyline started promisingly. Then started to degrade to a point where it becomes another Bruce Willis action movie. Time travel story not done right. Lots of loose ends that just dont really make sense.

When I first saw the preview for that movie, I about spit out my beer at the notion that in the future, time travel will be used by the mob to rub people out. Like cement shoes would suddenly go out of fashion or a simple bullet to the back of the head is just not dramatic enough. I'm sure I am missing something, but from what you're saying, probably not.

yea, you're not missing out much. the opening to the movie was quite good when they showed Levitt standing in a grass field looking at the time, pointing his gun into an empty spot when suddenly popped out a man out of nowhere directly in his gun's aim, and he fired and killed the man with precision. the narration said "time travelled has not been invented yet" and my mind was thinking, "wow cool, they killed the first guy that atempted time travel!" but then i realize it is not and the rest of the story goes more n more confusing. i loved time travel stories but this one just isnt that good. not too bad as an action movie tho.

Life of Pi - 8/10
enjoyable, magical, nicely paced storytelling. But not as good as most reviews says.
doesnt makes me feel any closer to religion. the ending of the movie just confirmed what i was feeling in my gut all the time, that Pi, unable to cope with the stress of losing everything and stranded at sea, Pi had been hallucinating on a tiny boat all alone. the version of the story he told the insurance company is probably what really happened.

Wreck-It Ralph - 7/10
Took Riley to see it & he liked it a lot. Lots of cameos from video game characters he knows. Enough subtle adult humor & innuendo to keep it interesting and funny for adults.

Just watched Men in Black 3. Actually quite good, I think it was the best of the series in my opinion

Zero Dark Thirty. 7/10

I thought it was a good movie, but not as good as the hype led me to believe it would be. It was a bit long and they probably could have cut about 1/2 an hour from the first half.

That's just my opinion.

Argo 9/10 - It was so well done - a must see.

Les Misérables

I have enjoyed the stage version of this for some time.
For me the film was if anything better.
Loses a point for the choice of actress to play Cosette

9/10

A spoiler tag would have been nice.

The Invisible War (9/10) - Documentary about the rape epidemic in the US Military. The strength these women and men who have had to endure these attrocities while serving is staggering. These people should all be given purple hearts not to mention the long overdue justice.

A Fighting chance (8/10) - Documentary about Kyle Maynard, the first to compete as an MMA fighter born without arms or legs. Inspiring story. The fact that he could win matches in greco roman wrestling against fully abled wrestlers is astonishing.

The Vanishing (8/10) - The original Dutch version from the '80s. It's a mystery movie about a woman who disappears while on vacation with her boyfriend. The boyfriend then starts receiving letters from the abductor. Decent movie. Does a good job of portraying the abductor in a believable light. Didn't see the hollywood remake but im guessing this part had to be dumbed down to assure the audience it wasn't making excuses for the abductors actions. If you don't mind subtitles I recommend it.

Craigslist Joe (6/10) - Documentary about a guy who attempts to use Craigslist to live off the generosity of others for food, work, shelter and transportation. Interesting concept, but I felt that having a camera crew with him throughout sort of spoiled the whole experiment.

Don't bother with the Hollywood remake, trust me. This was the original and best version.

Ok, so I know it's 25 years old now, but I just watched Rain Man for the first time! A good film (I guess that's why it won a bunch of oscars) and Dustin Hoffman's performance is really good. I suppose the story is predictable in a sense, and there are no dramatic twists or shocks, but enjoyable nonetheless. 8/10

"Goon" really quite hawkey-movie good. 8/10.
A decent story mixed with crude humour to satisfy most.

I finally saw "the Expendables 2" this weekend....I enjoyed it even though it was slightly cheesy....(8/10)

I'd also give it a 9/10. I've seen the play 3 times and read the book and loved the movie.
My only negative feedback would be the casting of Russell Crowe. I would of liked to have seen someone else in that role. I didn't care for Russell Crowe's performance.

Les Misérables - 10/10. EPIC! Whatever little shortfalls it may have, there is so much else about it that totally makes up for them. We loved it!

Life of Pi - 7/10 . Very odd, but odd mostly in a good way.

It gets a lot of points for some stunning scenery and assorted visuals. I loved the 3D, it was mostly very subtle and only rarely used for the sake of the 3D effect. I was amazed that they managed to spend THAT much time of the movie with just one guy drifting on the ocean and still manage to keep our attention for at least most of that time.

It loses points for the ending because I'm lazy. When I go see a movie, I like to be entertained and I don't like being told in the end: "Now YOU work it out. YOU decide what 3/4 of the whole film was all about". I don't like being left hanging, just give me a proper conclusion and I still have the choice whether I want to accept it or not, but don't make ME come up with it.

Django Unchained 8/10

Okay, I'm a Tarantino fan. This isn't his absolute best but pretty darned good.

Hoffman did research at Southbury Training School, a Ct institution for the developmentally disabled near my house. that was certainly an era when if you played someone with a disability, mostly mental, you would win or be considered highly. See also forest gump, sling blade, Sean penn, etc.

It was a good movie, and it won a couple Oscars last year: Best Actress for Viola Davis Davis and Best Supporting Actress for Octavia Spencer. I'll pass on the pie.
