Usually only one entry is allowed in a challenge. In this one you can enter two different images. The subject is your interpretation of solitude. With two entries you will finally know how well the outtake has done! Advanced Editing

a challenge for indecisive people, i dont think the site code would allow this and it breaks one of the fundamental rules of the site, the only way would be a diptych and that wouldnt allow two sets of scores so....

... you can set it up as a side-challenge/tournament with voting, though it's really only practical even then for members with a DPC Portfolio.

You'd need one person to coordinate ... entrants would have to get the pictures to one person so they could all be posted from the one account, IF you want to preserve anonymity. If you think people could vote fairly knowing the identity of the photographer (perhaps an opportunity for a good experiment!), they can just put the pictures in their Workshop folder and PM the coordinator a link, so the thumbs could all be posted for voting at once.

People can put their vote in the comments area (ooh, open voting!), or they make a list of their scores to send the coordinator if you want the voting to be secret.

It's more cumbersome than a "regular" challenge, but far more practical and likely to happen than creating code for what you describe.

There could be two challenges running at the same time: Solitude 1 and Solitude 2
You couldn't force people to enter both but that could be an option. At the end people could post both of their entries side by side to see which did better. Not exactly what was proposed but easier than changing the code or having someone set up a side-challenge.
