 loki13133 She's new to the site and knows nothing about us except what I've told her.
And I haven't told her much. I figured I'd let everyone introduce themselves and hope that you don't scare her away. LOL. She's just a teenager so be nice Ken (if you can't be I'll have to have her friend you on facebook and stalk you there). LOL
As of now she's only a non-paying member, but who knows. Right now she's borrowing my Canon 450D with just the kit lens.

Welcome! Read some Tutorials, take some pictures, don't worry (too much) about your scores (they will be lower than you expect!), and try to comment on lots of pictures—it's one of the best ways to figure out what makes a picture great (or not) to you.
Oh, and read the editing rules carefully—they can be tricky in the beginning. |

Also, don't forget to make sure the correct date and time are set in your camera. |

I would, but right now I can't even afford my own membership. LOL. I don't enter enough challenges to make it worth the money anymore. All I know is this is a great place to learn.

I hope not. There's a lot of good people here that can help you become a better photographer. This place is a gold mine of talent from around the world. It's a lot to take in at first...but you'll figure it out. You're a smart cookie.

I'm repeating this because it's very important. When you find out you're a better photographer than you think you are, you don't want to be disqualified for a silly reason like this.

I set the time/date before I gave it to her, and just had her verify it. LOL. I always hated seeing new people win a challenge then get DQed for something like that.

Obviously Nathan saw something in your ability I can't wait to see what he saw. Some people just have a creative nature about them and a great eye.
I have a friend that takes fantastic shots with her phone, she makes me want to throw my Nikon in the ocean. I got her to join but she doesn't own a camera yet. |

Many phone-cameras save EXIF data with the picture, making them legal to enter here. Just use the same card-reader/grag-and-drop technique to move them to a hard drive as we recommend for all images and she should be good to go ... |

Welcome to dpc. Don't take anything too personally (including scores). There is fantastic talent here - as someone else said - from around the world. Beginners to professionals (and you can't always tell by the photos - I offered critique once to a professional photographer who was using his dpc entry to unwind from the demands of his job. His talent was way above mine.)
If you hang around here you will get better - a lot better. So, take a break from the site if you need to before deciding to leave. |
