Due to my latest DQ I figured I would give a friendly reminder to go check your time and date of your camera(s).
P.s - No I'm not mad at the DQ... It was my own fault and SC did a nice job catching it. So 3 cheers for SC! Lol. |

Sorry for the DQ, but thanks for the reminder. Mine was off by 1 hour due to daylight savings. The chances of that intefering with a challenge entry are slim, especially for me, but can put someone in the same situation. |

The Canon Eos Utility users have an advantage. With the correct settings it goes automatically. But I hope that within a few years every camera has Wifi with automatic time update. |

My iPhone automatically updates for MST or MDT. And, it always knows where it is in the world. I presume that will be the prototype for all cameras.... eventually.
My 6 year old Canon 5D needs to be manually changed for time zone changes or daylight savings time changes. If the internal backup battery should fail (CR2016), it would cause many other symptoms and is easily replaceable. I do look at EXIF data on many of my images, so I'm not out of sync for very long, if ever.
It would be nice if DPC were a tolerant place and we did NOT have to strip exif data from every image. When an image is uploaded with full exif data attached, the image data fields automatically populate. |

Second this friendly community message, as my most recent DQ was for the very same reason. But I was off by about 10 time zones... |

If one processes a raw image and then exports as a TIFF or JPG, one can choose to include metadata or not. Even if one chooses Save for web...., most of the exif data is stripped to reduce file size, but some metadata is "stickier" than other metadata. For example, an embedded digital copyright will survive the conversion. Enough said. |

Nothing like shooting for a challenge and later noticing that you had time traveled to the year 2018. |

What happened? Why did you change your date? |

My last DQ was when my camera inadvertently set itself back to the beginning of time. I have no idea how it happened but I try to check frequently now. |
