When I worked for a company that makes microwaves, we had a safety recall on over the range microwave ovens that were catching on fire. As if that wasn't bad enough, for months, no one could figure out why they were catching on fire. People were pissed. So we gave them free countertop microwave ovens while we figured it out. Finally, someone figured out that the mica waveguide covers in the flaming microwaves were getting saturated with grease (mostly from bacon) and were getting really hot, arcing and catching on fire.
It's fun blowing stuff up in the lab.

Just don't actually use it...unless your kitchen is at the bomb range.
