Was commented in another forum thread, thought it was funny enough to take the suggestion seriously so i'm proposing it:
In the style of YANAP (YouAreNotAPhotographer.com)
take an image that is so cringe-worthy or just dumbfoundingly bizarre that nobody in their right mind would ever pay you for your services.
EXPERT EDITING so that true "in the style of" can take place (photo chopping of multiple captures and bizarre uses of photoshop features).
-----------OR-------------
Take an image from YANAP and do a GOOD VERSION of it, but inculde link to "inspiration" in details so that we can see after the challenge is over what you were referencing. |

I'm in... but ONLY if I can use horrible selective color, complete over exposure, and blur throughout so that the poor people I photograph won't be completely disgusted. lol |

This would be so difficult to vote on. Not sure if I could bring myself to give someone a 10 for destroying a photo. But I think it's worth doing just for laughs! |

so would the person with the lowest score actually have the "best" bad picture???
hmmmm..... |

I always twinge at this kind of challenge idea.
I think it would be a fun side challenge, but can you imagine new people coming to the site during the week that the three "winners" are on the front page, and leave because of how terrible the photography is? |

that's why i gave 2 options. imitate or fix. we could go with the "fix" part for the challenge if people prefer "pretty pictures" |

Haha... never even thought of that.
BUT... there would be other entries from other challenges that show magnificent work. :)
What a way to confuse newbies |

Methinks it would just be waayyyy too easy to improve on just about anything on YANAP, so more in the style of YANAP would probably work better. Practice your desat and Gaussian blur, and don't forget to leave those bedsheet backdrops unironed!!
ETA: Under its original owners, YANAP's banner originally read: 'Just because you own a camera, You Are Not A Photographer. You can't buy talent.'
Wish they'd kept that! |

And now you see how I keep my ThreadsStarted:PostsMade ratio so low ... ;-)
Because of the mentioned difficulty in scoring "bad" photos, a side challenge would probably be better. Also that way people can use either style option. |

I had (mercifully) forgotten about this site: YouAreNotAPhotographer.com
and so went over to see what it was all about.
Ten pages later I unmesmerized myself and scrambled out before I was caught forever.
Eeeeeek.

grrr! That site sucked me in and took away about 1 hour of my day away from me. I just couldn't tear my eyes away from the horror. |

See, that's how these fauxtogs make their $$ and get away with calling themselves professionals...everyone slows down for a car crash to get a look, if you hire a fauxtog you have your own car crash to admire again and again and again...
that's the only semi-reasonable explanation I can come up with :-)h |
