I would like to take a minute and call out a hidden nugget of raw talent on this site. Our friend FourPointX has been a member for quite some time and has turned in some amazing photographs with an absolute minimal amount of equipment by DPC standards. . .

In way of example:



But, I am calling him out as a person with a sense of awesome humor who has always been here for folks even when he has been having a tough time. I would also like to point your attention to a photo so awesome that it nearly rivals "the Cheese Man" for daring. A type of photo that I daresay this site could use a bit more of: I present to you the ribbon winning "Captain Underpants and his trusted sidekick HairShirtMan".

That was a gorgeous photo, and may be one of the best journalistic photos ever thrown up at DPC for a contest. It has 13 faves which should tell you something.

Joe is my buddy... I hope I will meet him in person one day. I realize all the associated risks and I'm willing to take them :).

helluva cool thing to wake up to mike...closest i think i'll get to seeing my name on the front page (where you still currently reside, congrats one more time!)

thanks guys and gal the friends i've made here go far beyond the small amount about photography i've learned, but i'm loving both.

and that brings me to a very important request. it's time i finally ditch the 4.x moniker. it reminds me of how score obsessed i was (and still can get once in a while)

this is a plea for suggestions for a new name. and before you suggest it art, no i won't use "fatbastard"

wait, maybe i will....

Please no, please no... I would have to call you that all the time and of course it would make it's way to facebook tooo lol. Although I suspect your friends and family would love it.

I like JoeMamma, or maybe you can go with xPointx - that would cover all the spectrums. Or you can go with ILoveTebow... just a thought :D :D :D

This is a nice thread Mike. Perfect person to write an open letter to :)

I look forward to having a beer with Joe some day. He's a fun guy who obviously loves his family and loves life. Not sure if this link will work here but I think this photo kind of sums up your character for me:

I also enjoy looking at his photos. He has a great way of capturing the quirky and humorous side of life:



and then when he ventures into the artsy side he really does come up with something beautiful:



I hope others will also find the little points of humor that I see in your photos.

I feel like, years from now, someone will come out with a "Sugartits" reference and all the newer people will have no idea what we're talking about, and by that time, we'll all have forgotten where it originated from...Except for Julietnn of course.
