		| | Thanks for the great feedback everyone, I haven̢۪t tried to turn the camera on yet. I'm going on a little trip this weekend and taking my 35mm.
I'll wait until Monday then give it a try. In the mean time I've been shopping around, found a really informative site //www.digitalcamera-hq.com/.
Any camera recommendations, I liked the Olympus but it had more zoom than I needed. I'm thinking I can jump to a 5.0 meg/w less zoom for around the same price.

		| | My camera is in repair as well. I probably won't need a new one but I like the thought of it. No recommendations from me, my camera is too old to recommend :) The site I recommend though is Steve's Digicams. Very imformative and has a huge database of info.

		| | I can not recommend a specific camera, but since I own the same camera you have I can recommend what I would be looking for in a replacement. In order of most annoying 'feature' of the C720UZ:
 - Latency: The C720UZ takes way too long to auto-anything. Specifically I would look for a replacement that focuses and writes to card quickly enough not to be annoying.

 - Focus: The lack of a manual focus on the C720UZ is next. In a replacement I would want the ability to manually focus; and not just lock the focus as the C720UZ will do.

 - Settings: The C720UZ sets nearly everything by menu. I would be looking for a replacement that has dedicated controls for the most important settings.

 - Media: The largest SmartMedia is 128MB, which at just over 8MB per photo at the only no-compression setting it will hold only 14 images per card. I would be looking for a replacement that used CompactFlash so I could hold many more photos per card.

As for the 8X zoom, I like it as it allows for more control over DOF than I would have without it.

That being said, I generally like the C720UZ, but I am finding its limitations more and more. I would really like to upgrade, so I have been thinking along these lines myself for some time. However, I am hoping I can put up with it and keep from dropping it in a lake (like I almost did the same day you dropped yours in one :D ) until I can afford a DSRL.
