What does everyone think of this one?

I took it at my parents house the other night, it is a very old sewing machine, I had one of my parents move the wheel with a hook (it is not working). There is not a shred of plastic on it, that is how old it is! I haven't done a whole lot with showing motion, so any advice is appreciated!

Is that a (motorised) Singer? my mum used a singer when I was younger.

I love the motion of the wheel but think resizing has caused problems (does it require usm in photoshop?) Brings back memories, and thats good in any pic :)

Very nice. I like the angle of the shot, the lighting, exposure, etc. An observation: for a photo of just the machine, as this is, the machine should NOT be "in motion"; for a photo of the machine in motion there should be some fabric passing under the pressure foot. ( just my opinion ).

Judging from the style of the motor on your White Sewing Machine, it dates from the 1930's. But it may be older than that, does the cabinet have a foot treadle?

Unfortunately, it is not in "sewing condition", my mom is planning on getting it fixed (depending on cost), but it doesn't sew, so the fabric passing under it probably would look funny, because there would be no thread in the fabric. My mom does have another old one in working condition, but not as old as this one... Although I may be able to rig something up, we'll see!

Not sure about the foot treadle (is this the pedal?), but I think that it does, but it is not on the floor right now. There are a lot of attachments in the side box, though!

Yes, it is motorized, if you look closely to the far side of the machine, in the back by the wheel, you will see the motor.

Thanks for all your comments, I have many sewing machines that I can photograph, maybe I will do some more, and use some of your suggestions!

Thanks, again!

Many older sewing machines used 'people power' by means of a foot treadle that operated the machine through an eccentric cam with a leather pulley belt. Those machines could operate where electricity was not available.
BTW, great shot!

In that case, no, it doesn't have one, it does have an electric motor on it. Thanks for the info, I don't have access to a sewing machine THAT old!

Awesome it still works! I have one I got from a antique dealer looks almost identical! Its only purpose here is for looks cause I am not one to get old things like that working again....or you could say I am not very mechanic like...Good picture..

BTW, what do mean about the resizing causing problems? Do you mean with the motion, or something else. If you mean about the missing paint, that is just the machine... Thanks for the feedback!
