to avoid reading the rules again, how much can one use photoshop.
for instance if one is allowed to sharpen to ones content, can we
use ink outlines? it works really well with the rust challenge...

Although it may be permitted by the rules, you have to remember that DPC is about photography and less about "digital art" -- meaning that obviously manipulated photographs have traditionally done poorly and been voted low by a lot of voters. (There are plenty of other sites that welcome more manipulated types of imagery.)

The rules specifically mention maintaining photographic integrity. If you are trying to do something to your photo that makes it look less like a photo, you probably shouldn't do it.

You can use about 3% of what photoshop is capable of, if I am reading the new rules correctly.
