Watch out for the new challenge -- the description is different than the previous deja-vu challenge.
This time you're supposed to pick a ribbon winner (not your own). Last time you were supposed to pick a non-ribbon winner (and it could be your own.)

OMFG that is too frickin funny, I was considering suggesting an Homage challenge...! But seeing that I did just get a challenge idea accepted, didn't think another one would be used so soon.

So it can either be Blue Red or Yellow winning image. |

It's pretty amazing to look at the early challenges from 2002 and see what ribboned and the high scores they got. I think if those were entered today there would be much different results. |

Hmmm... Well power now seems to be back on in our area... But I am a bit overwhelmed at how to choose an image to emulate... A LOT to look through... Anyone come up with a strategy?

I was thinking about going to the challenge history and looking for a challenge type that interests me.
My first thought was to look for wildlife, since that's what I love doing, but I'm thinking about looking for things that I really enjoy that I don't do very often, like negative space, street photography, abstracts, etc. That way I can just browse through the challenge history for interesting challenges.
I also thought about looking at my favorite photographers and seeing if there's something I wanted to try that way.

I got a good couple hundred shots last night of the one I've chosen, and will try a few more. Looking to do a studio shot as that's my weak area and needs work. Hopefully people will refrain from self-plagiarizing, it's kinda galling to see images obviously from the same shoot and same photog ribboning! |

Do we recreate the image we choose for the same challenge it was created (ie. if it was a b/w challenge, does our reproduction also have to be in b/w)? What's the ruling on the brown ribbon. Is that going to be considered a "ribbon"? |

I would predict that emulating a "Brown Ribbon" shot would be considered OOTB/shoehorn/DNMC by a large percentage of the voters.
But, unless you have a fixation on your overall average score, enter whatever you're most interested in photographing ΓΆ€” you can't be DQed for not following or differently-interpreting the challenge description. |

You can also go to Challenges>Challenge Archives. This will give you a different view, top 3 and the challenge they were entered in. |

So is everyone going to put the name of the challenge for the photo title, and the photographer as well? |

Originally posted by Neat: So is everyone going to put the name of the challenge for the photo title, and the photographer as well? | I'm just planning to use the same title as the original, and then to put a link to the original in the photographer's notes section. With the title, if people really want to search for the original before voting it should be easy enough ... I'd keep a second browser window open to the image search page ... |
