Brass-faced clamp screw on a work-holding fixture? |

Nope. The threaded 'bolt' is 4mm (0.16") in diameter. |

I suspect this is wrong, but... "paddle" type Morse code "key?" |

Your suspicion is wrong. It is a paddle type morse code key. Personalized to me (LB3SA) :-)
Good guess kirbic

Woot! That is one unusual object... only us old farts would recognize it. It's a really beautiful key, a work of art in fact.
Here's the next whatsit:

ok here's a submission for the game:
==========================================
And here is a bonus for avid gearhead guessers - I'd really like to know what this is - am thinking some sort of pumping engine with cooling or compressing capabilities.. Note this one is not for the game because I don't know whattheheckizzit.

This particular key; which is also my favorite, is hand crafted by an Italian man and his daughter. All solid stainless steel and super heavy. The paddles are made of carbon. |

A desk artsy looking thing. You pull one of the 'balls' and it will be like domino effect back and forth... |

It's either an air compressor with an after-cooler, or a refrigeration compressor and condenser. The latter is, IMO, the most likely scenario. It's old, I'm going to guess 1940s or earlier. |
