I can't recall the last time I winced at a suggestion. I guess that means it will be more of a challenge. I'm in.

I like the idea I just don't know what kind of trouble (if any depending on what is in the shot and if the photographer tried to sell it) it would stir up with the Disney lawyers. I have heard of quite a few things both reasonable and what I consider unreasonable/overboard that they have done in order to protect their copyrights.

Did you know that if your school puts on a Disney show (and there are lots of them) you are forbidden from taking any still images or video of the performance of rehearsals ? If one dad posts a hidden snap of his little 3rd grader and posts it up on Facebook, the school is deemed to have violated it's contract with Disney.

Disney is the devil when it comes to IP and trademark stuff. Their lawyers are legions and bullets can not stop them.

Ugh, Lucas is an force to be reckoned with so it is a little hard for me to truly grasp why on earth he would do such a thing that would 'diminish' his company with his individual stamp. I think it could have survived as a company long after his passing just like Walt Disney is to Disney. Money - don't think he needs anymore money. I think it relates to his feeling of mortality as that he is aging - he wants to ensure that his company and movies remain long after he is gone, but this, I feel, was not a way to do so:-( Oh, and it not just Star Wars - Indiana Jones is also Lucas Arts.

His plan is to give away most of the proceeds -- I think he's already built a new facility for the USC film department.

Lucas has all the money he will ever need, and is entering the Bill Gates land of rich guys who will give away the vast majority of their wealth.
âI am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education. It is the key to the survival of the human race. We have to plan for our collective future â- and the first step begins with the social, emotional, and intellectual tools we provide to our children. As humans, our greatest tool for survival is our ability to think and to adapt â as educators, storytellers, and communicators our responsibility is to continue to do so.â

A little known local angle to why he did this has to do with his desire to improve one of his properties in Marin. Lucas owns about 3,400 acres in Marin County, including Skywalker Ranch near Nicasio, which he established in 1980. The ranch is home to Skywalker Sound and Skywalker Properties. The nearby Big Rock Ranch houses Lucasfilm Animation and the George Lucas Educational Foundation.

For years neighbors have fought the development in this upscale neighborhood despite the fact that Lucas has built on only 5% of the land he owns and has always done that development with taste and sensitivity. Last year he gave up on the process and was thinking about turning Grady Ranch into low income housing as a big F U to the neighbors who have fought him at every turn.

Selling to Disney will ensure the worst possible outcome to these neighbors. You can fight a nice guy like Lucas, Disney will send in the lawyers to bankrupt you and eat your babies.
