Sometimes (not always, just sometimes) when I take macros with a filter attached to the camera (e.g., the UV filter), I get a sort of reflection of the filter on the picture. It shows as circular lines usually to one side and top of the picture.

Does anyone know why this happens, and, how/if it can be avoided. It is very annoying.

I can think of any number of things. It would help if you shared an example.

OK, this is what I'm talking about (towards bottom left - polarizer attached this time) AND, btw, why is it that the refractions look like doilies?
