not pulled taffy but that's quite close:
Hardening glucose syrup being pulled to strings, semi-produced hard (rock) candy

oh, that actually would've been my next guess. i should've said that first because the sheen looks more like pulled hard sugar than taffy.
i'll get something up shortly. |

i'd put a bigger shot of it but i think any more of it would give it away.
plus the phone image is so crappy there'd be too many mistakes to cover up.
