This morning my kitten Moe meowed. And then he farted. The fart sounded just like his meow, perhaps slightly higher in pitch. Anyway I'm sure it was a fart because he didn't open his mouth. Unless maybe Moe is a ventriloquist. Or his butt is.

Lovasz's restatement of it, published in 1975, is the version that I'm studying. The theorem establishes a relationship between a graph's chromatic number and its maximum degree. Lovasz's strategy is to show the statement is true for various cases of the graph's critically k-chromatic subgraphs. Quite clever.
