Hi all,
I will be driving to SLC on Saturday the 1st and will be there for 2 weeks. One place I want to photograph is the Bonneville Salt Flats. Has anybody been out there and can you recommend a spot for a great photo op? I will be there for sunrise - before the crowds -. And, does anybody want to join me? I will be going to Bryce & Zion the weekend of the 6th with my niece & nephew - I grew up in SLC and if you can believe it, this will be my first trip to those parks. I look forward to your replys.

I've been to the flats several times. Many areas to pull over, walk out and get shots. I like it out there if it's not August!
The tunnel [long] and S curves in Zion are so fun on the motorcycle.
Wish I could go with you. Have fun and enjoy.
Pitsaman was there not too long ago.

Thanks Justine! I really hope to get some great shots. Didn't think about a motorcycle - I have never driven one - but I know they rent these little ATVs which might also be a blast. Are you from Utah?

No I'm from Oregon but we spend a lot of [motorcycle] time on the back roads of America. Great places, faces. Utah is one of our greater states and a good place to see a lot of different type of landscapes and meet some wonderful folks. The only negative about the state is that the people in Ogden do not--not kidding--do not know how to drive. :D
This would be a good time to see Bryce/Zion before all the summer crowds. Have a fun, safe trip. Wish I could go. |

Thanks Justine. I hope the weather is nice for us but -- it will be a good trip anyway. BTW, I wanted to write an article about Utah drivers once but I never got around to it. They are getting better though, I think it's because of the influx of non-natives. I actually had someone let me into their lane the last time I was there :)
