You just can't even make this shit up.

Seriously?

Can't we please put in some sort of test to ensure that the voters actually have a clue? I'm not asking for college level education, just a basic awareness of what the policies of each candidate are supposed to be, and what their actual track record is in a few key areas.

For crying out loud, this is actually worse than a high school popularity contest.. No... really, it is..

OK 1st of all people on here know that I disagree with Obama and almost every policy he has put out there. 2nd...no..there really can not be a person on this earth that is that stupid. He is making up reasons to hate Romney.. I have based mine on his record....3rd...I am glad that you put this in rant

Why on earth do you care who Mr. Dog is voting for. I am sure his reasons for loving Mr. Obama are every bit as deep as Mr Nuggent's or Mr. Williams' reasons for hating him. I rarely expect great political insight from the land of popular music. when Creed frontman Scott Stapp stopped by "Fox & Friends" to announce his support for Romney, I had to wonder who was the bright boy who thought this was news worthy of television time.

Anyway, it just balances out the "other" bigots, the ones who can't believe a black man is qualified to lead us. Let's not engage in observational selection here. There's plenty of bigotry and idiocy to go around on both sides. (Did you know that President Eisenhower was outraged when he found out fully half of all Americans were of below-average intelligence?)

I don't care who he's voting for. I've met the guy, he's actually not dumb at all.

What I do care about, is the fact that the average voter really does make this decision on information no more accurate or relevant than the list above.

I'm concerned because the President is elected based upon popularity, not upon ability, or upon any real substantive value to the country.

And lastly, I am concerned that there really is a tragically large group of people who are easily manipulated, and even the most transparent of tricks will swing them.

Frankly, if you just picked someone with a high GPA in college at random and handed them the Presidency, there's basically no chance they would perform worse than the current crop of choices will.

Yes, please call me concerned, because I am. And no I don't have a solution that wouldn't cause riots. Perhaps an educated voter act? If you don't understand the issues, and know the candidates, then really, should you be allowed to vote? I certainly don't think so.

WTF? This is /Rant, start playing by the rules or get out! ;)

You need to dig a trench, setup the .50 cal, and really work yourself into the position, no matter how indefensible.

LOL.

ETA: Just gonna savor this for a while... Don't think it's ever happened before. :D

One of the more staggering swing decisions in the Bush Kerry election was the biggest swing pushing undecided voters one way or another in polling was the question "Who would you rather have a beer with?". While I would rather chew my own arm off then spend half an hour talking with a stiff like Kerry, Bush took the pledge and swore off drinking, so you couldn't have a beer with the man. The fact that that was the big decider for a countable number of voters made me shake my head.

ETA: sorry to hear about the cold, get well!

Well, its a good thing we don't have a monarchy, its a republic, where it takes a rather large collective group to fuck it all up, not just one person.

In the end a fuck up is a fuck up, and how you ended up there doesn't really matter.

There's the fuel for the entire American political system, reduced to it's very essence.

yes, i agree we need to start reversing the trend. unfortunately it will take a more intelligent voter pool to do that.

Which was my original question...

How do we do that without causing riots? The unwashed masses will be displeased.

Is that the same as Romney's 47%? Sheesh...

Sure you can -- people (especially in the entertainment biz and political consultants) do all the time ... this is something posted by a publicity-hungry entertainment figure -- can you not entertain the possibility that this missive (apparently credited to "Dragonfly" and not Snoop himself) contains a significant element of sarcasm and deliberately provocative hyperbole?

President Eisenhower might have taken heart from a visit to Lake Woebegone, where all the children are above average. of course, the poor guy would be excommunicated by today's Republicans ...

No, it's the ignorant fools who have no business voting... Did you fail to read the rest of what I wrote, or were you just having fun here?
