Wow, this one is quite the Rorschach test, isn't it? No to the above, however I will confirm it is composed of compounds of organic origin ;-)

It is also not any of the other above guesses, including but not limited to slime mold (great idea though!) fat, a sponge, or a close-up of hell.

ETA: Hint. This was taken at 4x magnification.

Wow, you are *out there* tonight!

But no.

Although I did use some cider vinegar with "the Mother" yesterday :-) Bragg's to be exact.

Who you callin' "honey??"

No, not honey, nor wax, bees- or otherwise. Not sweet, but edible. In fact, I'm digesting it just now.

I may have been using the term "help" rather loosely ;-)

Some kind of dried fruit?

We are definitely moving in the right direction. Not dried, but preserved. A fruit, yes, in the technical sense, though most would probably consider it a vegetable.

Hmm.

Perhaps it's tomato sauce of some sort? Of course, that would be really strange, as it seems to be yellow/brown.

eggplant?
10/03/2012 11:17:41 PM · #3993
The fruit still retains it's original form, but has been sliced. A couple more hints:
- I found it on top of my dinner
- My dinner would be considered to be Italian, though it's really thoroughly Americanized.

Ooooo.... nope!

I was expecting this guess much earlier!

Hmm.. Given all of that, perhaps it is a very thinly sliced truffle preserved in oil?

ETA: Just can't think of anything else they would bother to slice so thin. Other than ginger of course, but that would just be crazy wrong for Italian.

Hey wow. I didn't know Italians used goat hoof in their cuisine. ;)

I think we should disallow the 5x freaking macro... :) Makes fricken olives look like entire frying pans.
