Well, I was quite right, in that it's a rodent skull...
The bigger picture here tells me that this is an owl pellet. |

My wife told me it was a bird carcass, so that's what I thought when I snapped a few pics, but on closer examination, I see that it is actually a rodent carcass or a bird with buck teef. ;-) Not an owl pellet, though.
