I've seen some suggestions on this subject but none that work great. The best I've found so far is a little app from Icegiant for image resizing.
I have about 700 images to resize down for a web photoalbum and all the individual work is killing me. Anyone know of any good tools, free or otherwise, that can help with quality batch resizing? |

Yeah, that sounds like a pain in the *$*#@. Photoshop has a utility built in that creates webgalleries. Of course, it's not free, but if you can find a friend that has it, you can just burn all the images and code onto a CD. Here's a crappy gallery I made of some poorly scanned pictures - My gallery
That's just one example. They allow you to tweak the settings and create different types of galleries.

File > Automate > Batch... in Photoshop can do wonders once you've recorded an action that does what you want.
I recently set up an action to resize a photo to web-size, apply a little USM, add the word "PROOF" to the photo, emboss it, change the transparency of the layer, then add a copyright statement, change the transparency of that text layer, flatten the image, and save it. I can now prepare a bunch of photos for client presentations in a few minutes.
P.S. File > Automate > Fit Image... is a great way to resize a picture to a "maximum" dimension, regardless of whether it is portrait or landscape orientation. I use it in the action referenced above. |

Ive never tried that photopimp way, ill have to give it a swing, sounds solid.
I use a program called ACDSee. you can select as many pics as you want and resize them to any size in a few clicks. i think you can get a free copy of ACDSee from www.download.com |
