So, Ray, any thoughts on this? Is this surprising to you? Did you guys really not pull this same sort of shit all the time up there too?
ETA: Talked to parking enforcement again, they advised that the police had already been here and left, and that the vehicle was supposed to have already been moved. |
I cannot and will not make a generalized statement that this does not occur up here, but I can assure you that I definitely would have reported this and to the highest levels possible as I firmly believe that the laws are there for everybody.
I have parked like this but only if called upon to engage in official police activity and cannot for one minute condone this type of activity on the part of the officer. You should consider sending this to your local newspaper (anonymously) and see if they will bring this to the attention of those in powers.
I recently saw this young officer park his cruiser in the fire lane at a large grocery store and proceed inside. He might have been on official police business, but after I called the duty sargeant, the vehicle was moved to a proper parking spot. Seems he was on official business, but there was no rush that would have required him to park in the fire lane.
Do things like this happen up here... my bet is they probably do and that it is incumbent upon us to ensure that supervisors are appraised (anonymously or otherwise) of this type of situations and hopefully rectify them.
Doesn't really address your question but it is the best I can do. :O(

FWIW, I actually believe you, but either times have changed, or things work differently here and there.
I wish all cops and other authorities acted and thought as you do, the world would be a much better, less scary, place. |

Pffft. Canadian cops are always parking illegally along highways playing with those radar guns I bought for them.

What's the point of being a cop if you can't drive as fast as you want, park where you want, beat the crap out of criminals (or folks who look or act like criminals or simply challenge your authority), and confiscate weed?? I'm withdrawing the application I submitted. ...in 1984...
eta: come to think of it, I did most of that as a rent-a-cop back in '87.

THIS IS COMPLETE AND UTTER BS!!!!!!!!! |
Looking back on your original post, do you now have a parking permit and perhaps even one with privileges or a special spot at sporting events as you are now their official photographer?
