I need a Prosumer (Non-SLR) camera,
having wide angle 18 mm or less,
10X Optical zoom (or more),
having tiltable LCD,
and reasonably good quality.
Can anybody suggest a suitable model?

I don't think there is one that has an 18mm lens without getting more into mirrorless options like the XPro1, Olympus PEN etc.
Most megazooms that I'm familiar with start out around 24mm or 28mm. |

are ILCs an option?
the problem with prosumers are the smaller image sensors which, due to the crop factor kill off your FOV.
you could go with say a canon M, get a adapter and use any UWA or zoom you wish. but it would be pricey...

The Canon S100 has a 24mm equivalent lens. but it's only a 5x zoom.
You might be able to go that wide with a G series Canon and the lens adapters/attachments, assuming they still make them. |

Im spotting a trend here and I'm not intending to come across as rude... kbhatia1967 hasnt entered a challenge in nearly 3 years, in the last 2 months has only posted to 4 threads and all are asking about cameras of various types and sizes. Seems like he hasnt ever got the right answer from anyone. Also the books he claims to have written are not available on the Lulu website addresses he posts on his profile page. Something isn't adding up... |

I did download his photography book when he first announced it a few years (?) ago. His profile obviously needs updating, but other than that... |

Go with a regular P&S, and get the clip on aux wide or fisheye to fit it so you can do the wide shots.
It's a little effort for the wide shots, and not exactly what you are hunting, but will get you where you want to go with the wide. |

I agree. I stopped entering challenges when my Canon S1 IS broke down. I didn't have enough money to buy an SLR, and didn't want to buy again a prosumer. Recently, I bought Canon EOS 1100D, but not quite satisfied with the results. I am again looking for a decent prosumer camera, that satisfies my requirements.
The books I claim to have written were available for quite some time on lulu. Many copies were downloaded, particularly of the book on Adobe photoshop. For some reason, I had to remove some of these books from the lulu website. I simply forgot to remove from my profile page.
If you need any of these books, I can send a pdf copy through mail.
Thanks for bringing my attention on this important aspect. |

So then what did you not like about the SLR that you're looking to get back in the prosumer? Also, what issues that you found in the prosumer do you want to avoid this time around? |

| I am also spotting a trend here, whenever someone has a question Bear always has an answer....It's like he has super-human knowledge. I'm not certain, but I think there was some type of accident involving a radioactive spider and a speak and spell.... |

Thanks.
It naturally affects human beings to find that they are being cheated. I don't have even an iota of grudge on this.
And yes, I have also updated my profile, including my new email address (kbhatia1967@gmail.com).
