Entry:  It was only after the voting started that I remembered I could have made the Moon blue ... 
Alternate shots:  
The "first draft" (made a couple of days earlier) was a "natural" shot, which only required the equivalent of HDR compositing:

Not really an outtake, I wasn't able to finish my entry in time for the challenge. Still needs work but this is where I left off.
