1. What is generally considered a long exposure? I think anything > 1/2sec Any guidance here?
2. If your idea consists of 80% "some structure" but that "structure" happens to be outdoors, does it become Landscape? When I think landscape I think of this big open spaces, mountain ranges, backyards etc....Any help |

1. I think it's more a matter of how obvious you make the long exposure, rather than how long it actually IS. A 2-minute exposure of a still life is probably doomed, but a 1/2 second exposure of something moving would "look long", if you catch my drift?
2. Your guess is as good as mine... |

Im guessing architecture is ok. Lanscape to me is outdoor with foliage and a lot of sky and so on and so forth. I agree still long exposures will be doomed, however.....Light painting can usually be still and Im hoping to see a lot of that. I think thats what I want to go with here its a fun technique to explore that I rarely see on this website! |

I'd agree with Bear on this one.
Having some way for the viewer to assess how or if time has passed is going to be integral here.
As for landscapes, you'll hear it argued equally audibly from both camps that your suggested scene is/is not a landscape. Personally, I think of a landscape as a photo which depicts the greater scene, so to me a cityscape is the same thing as an urban landscape. Just showing the land on two different planets to me. If you're focusing on one object that dominates, it probably isn't so much of a landscape to me, but then, I'd also designate this as largely a landscape

Better? ;)
As to the OP, personally, no, I wouldn't call that a landscape. |

In the context of this challenge, I bet the voters would... (now make a stamp for "I disagree with Bear!") |

Nope, after looking endlessly at this, I agree. additionally it's a bit on the arty side for me...the pretty colors make a nice screen saver though.
