National Geographic photographer Sam Abell discusses his work in lecture form. It is rare for a photographer to be as lucid and beable to explain well his motives and decisions in his work as Mr. Abell does here
His mantras of compose and wait and color, but just barely are beautifully illustrated by showing some of the alternates to the one perfect frame, what he saw was lacking in the others, or how he worked toward the image that satisfied him. Great stuff. |

Thanks for posting this. He sees the world so much differently than I do. I would say the images seem more impressive after hearing his descriptions and thoughts about them. |
