I've tried printing some pictures with a local print service, and although the pictures came out real nice there was definitely a color shift. My last order were a couple of B&W, and I had made quite an effort to do the B&W conversion right, but they came out much darker than I intended, obviously different from what I had on screen.
I know color management can solve this, but how do I find out the characteristics of the process when the printing is handled externally? Specifically, what about DPC prints?

are you certain its the printer, and not you computer being mal-adjusted?

Not sure, but I thought I had my computer set up correctly (running Adobe Gamma). What I haven't done yet, though, is to obtain a color chart and compare that to the actual colors displayed on my monitor. I guess that would be the proper point to start with? |
