i am getting really irritated with dust on my D100 CCD ... tried to blow it out a couple of times (with a bulb not canned air!), but if anything it makes it worse (also with the AC adapter)

so i am finally thinking of trying the pecpad/eclipse method:

and was just wondering whether anybody has any additional suggestions/warnings/encouragments ;-)

thanks!

I use the cut down spatula (I think he sells a premade one, might be a great investment)pecpads, and ultra-pure methanol (eclipse equivalent). The only thing yo have to worry about is the shutter closing, and as long as you follow the instructions for entering the cleaning mode and make sure the battery is fully charged, you should be fine.
It's really not at all difficult, once you do it a couple times, you'll be a pro.
I do suggest taking before/after shots (shoot a blank wall or sky at f/22). With a bit of practice you will wind up with a near-perfectly clean sensor after a single two-pass cleaning.

I've used the method several times now with AMAZING success! I whole-heartedly reccomend it!

Here's a post from when I first used the method:

well ... in case anybody is interested ... did it today and am quite impressed with the result ... even after the first attempt a lot of the crap was gone ... and i am rather satisfied with the result after the third try (the sky is blue again ;-) ... as far as i can tell everything still works ... and the blower method reallllly does not work!!!

here is before:

I totally need to do this. I've had my cam 1 year and the dust is really starting to show.
